VPN set up steps on Windows XP

Press the Start button, go to the Control Panel and double click on the Network Connections icon. A new window will appear with a series of options. Ignore all of them except the New Connection Wizard icon. Double click it and a new window will appear. Click Next.
You will be presented with four options: Connect To The Internet, Connect To The Network At My Workplace, Set Up A Home Or Small Office Network and Set Up An Advanced Connection. Choose the last one and then click the next button again.

The following window will ask you if you wish to use a LPT1, direct parallel connection, for accepting incoming connections. This option is but a vestige of the old days, when communications were realized through coaxial and parallel cables. Ignore this option and just click next.

This window is the one that we care about. There are two options: Allow Virtual Private Connections and Do Not Allow Virtual Private Connections. Choose the first option and then click next.

The next window will ask you which accounts inside that PC can access the VPN. Choose the ones that you wish to grant access to and then click next. You then will be presented with a series of network protocols. If you haven't made any changes to the initial configuration of the operating system, then you should have the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the top of the list. Choose that one and click next.

Now mark the box next to Allow Callers To Access My Local Area Network, specify the IP addresses and then click next. That's it? No! Now you need to know how to connect to that VPN server from another computer.
