VPN

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) refers to a private data network which makes use of the public telecommunication infrastructure for data transmission. The major goal for using VPN is to maintain privacy through the use of a tunneling protocol and various security procedures. The idea behind VPN is to provide the company the same facilities at relatively cheaper prices by the usage of shared public infrastructure instead of a private one.

In other words, a VPN is a private communication network which is often shared within a company or by several companies or organizations for confidential communication over a public accessible network.

Similarly VPN message traffic can be carried over a public networking infrastructure on the top of a standard protocol or over a service provider's private network with a proper SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT (SLA) between the VPN customer and the VPN service provider. Virtual Network Private network is increasing in its popularity each day.
