Open SSH

OpenSSH is the abbreviated form of Open secure Shell. It refers to a set of free software computer programs. These programs offer encrypted communication sessions over a computer network with the use of SSH protocol. It was developed as an alternative option to the proprietary Secure Shell software. These programs were created by OpenBSD team. It was created to serve an alternative to the original SSH software. The original SSH software has become a proprietary software.

The OpenSSH developers often call OpenSSH as more secured one than the original SSH software. They produce clean and audited code and fact . The word open in its name refers to the afct that it is released under the open source BSD license. Original SSH may have source code but various restrictions are imposed on its usage and distribution. So OpenSSH is considered as much finer project for many software developers. OpenSSH appeared first in OpenBSD2.6 .
